Mission
The mission of the Directorate of Nursing Affairs is to ensure that highest quality nursing and midwifery services in preventive, promotive and restorative health is provided by competent professionals.
Philosophy
The Directorate of Nursing Affairs encompasses an attitude of caring and concern. Underlying this is the belief that each staff member is recognized, respected for knowledge, ability and creative potential.
We believe in a management system which allows participation of all levels of staff in the decisions and activities that affect national health care and the work environment.
Goals
1.
Follow as a guideline MOH overall aims and objectives
2.
Control and evaluate all nursing and midwifery service activities.
3.
Formulate short, medium and long term plans for nursing and midwifery
services based on needs data
and forecasts of activities within
prescribed financial limits.
4.
Ensure formulation and upgrading of nursing and midwifery practice.
5.
Liason and coordinate with regional and international nursing bodies including
but not limited to: care, management, education, human resource
management and research.
6.
Supervise and control nursing and midwifery personnel through staff appraisal,
scope of work, expected or forecasts of care results, training,
analysis of statistical reports recommending or directing change
of priorities as necessary.
Responsibilities
1.
Coordinate nursing and midwifery services in all MOH institutions.
2. Advise
on policy and procedure matter relating to the practice of nursing and
midwifery.
3.
Recruitment of nursing and midwifery personnel.
4.
Periodic supervisory visits of nursing and midwifery services within MOH
institutions
5. Assessment,
identification, implementation and evaluation of methods of care,
welfare
and discipline of nursing personnel.
6.
Formulate and revise and implement investigation procedure on nursing in all MOH institutions.
7.
Maintain record of all nursing, midwifery and students within the MOH
institutions.
8. Membership
in all committees related to nursing and midwifery services within the MOH.
9. Ensure
that planned health programs are effectively implemented.
10.
Liaison with the Director General of Administrative ensure that Civil Service
laws and regulations
are implemented.
11.
Any other duties assigned by the Minister of Health.
