Oman Presides at the WHO Regional Committee Meeting 1ST Session
The 62nd session of the World Health Organization Regional Committee for the Eastern Mediterranean has commenced on Sunday. The Sultanate of Oman is participating in this meeting with an official delegation presided by H.E. Dr. Ahmed bin Mohammed al-Saidi, Minister of Health.
Prior to the opening, technical meetings took place where the Omani Health Minister chaired the first session. The session discussed three health-related papers namely; health technology assessment, dimensions of food safety in the region, social health insurance to achieve a comprehensive health approach.
The second session has view the Malaria regional work plan 2016 – 2020 in addition to the human resources needed for health with a special focus on promoting nursing and midwifery in the region. The discussions concluded by exploring the social determinants for health.
