Under the patronage of H.E. Dr. Ahmed bin Mohammed al-Saidi, Minister of Health the Ministry of Health (MOH) represented by the Department of Women & Child Health organized today (Wednesday) a national workshop on Women & Child Care at Al-Shafaq Club.
The workshop included honoring the winners in the 2015 birth-spacing program contest, which was announced in December 2014.
H.E. Dr. Mohammed bin Saif al-Hosni, MOH Under65secretary for Health Affairs along with H.E. Dr. Ali bin Taleb al-Hinai, MOH Undersecretary for Planning Affairs were attended the workshop. In addition, around 160 participants were attended from all the Governorates of the Sultanate, as well as representatives from the international agencies in the Sultanate.
Dr. al-Saidi stressed in his speech that: “Women & Child Health is an extremely important topic. Birth-spacing is not to reduce the population of Oman but to maintain the health of the mother and the child. This workshop today with participation from all the health sector in Oman will concentrate on these issues and I hope the message will reach everybody if we want a healthy and productive society”.
At the end of the event, the Minister honored the winners.
