MOH Statement on Omani MERS Case in Thai27/1/2016
Commenting on the Thailand’s Health Ministry announcement regarding the confirmation of diagnosing an Omani national of the Middle East respiratory syndrome coronavirus (MERS-CoV) in the Kingdom of Thailand, the Ministry of Health (MOH) states that the patient-diabetic- has been admitted in one of the Sultanate’s referral hospital in mid-January on suspecting of having an acute pneumonia. It should be noted that the patient’s health condition was not permitting him to be discharged; however, his family insisted on leaving the hospital Against Medical Advice.
The diagnosing samples have been taken while he was admitted in Oman where the results from the Central Public Health Laboratory confirmed a MERS-CoV infection.
