The Ministry of Health (MOH) represented by the Directorate General of Pharmaceutical Affairs and Drug Control issued a circular to withdraw, stop dispensing and selling the product children’s Advil suspension 100mg/ 5ml due to a manufacturing defect (stability and viscosity) in one batch of the drug.
This drug, which is manufactured by the Canadian Pfizer company, containing an active ingredient Ibuprofen which is used as a painkiller, anti-inflammatory and antipyretic.
All health care providers at the government and private sectors are advised to stop dispensing the above mentioned drug.
The withdrawal decision includes the syrup drug only. There are other pharmaceutical dosage forms of this drug (tablets & capsules) which are registered and marketed in the Sultanate not included in this decision.
