Integrated Elderly Community Services Programme Training Workshop
The Ministry of Health (MoH) represented by the department of Primary Healthcare (PHC) Supportive Services and the Directorate General of Nursing with the support of the WHO Regional Office organized today ( Tuesday) a training workshop on the Integrated Elderly Community Services Programme at Majan International Hotel. The workshop was conducted at the presence of Dr. Saeed Hareb Al Lamki, Director General of PHC, Heads of PHCs and Directors of Nursing Services in Sultanate’s Governorates.
Numbers of medical and para medical staff in PHC Institutions participated in this workshop. The workshop introduces participants to the integrated services of a two programmes namely; the Elderly Health Care programme and Community Nursing programme, aiming at training and equipping them with the skills and knowledge necessary to start the program in their respective institution.
The clinical lectures involved the role of Doctors, Nurses, Physiotherapist, Diet Technicians and Medical Orderlies within the Integrated Programme. Moreover, the workshop included the launching of the Revised Version of the integrated Community and Elderly programme booklets.
Upon the completion of the training, the integrated programme of elderly and community Nurses will be implemented in all the PHCs of all the Governorates. Additionally, Follow up visits will be conducted from the PHC task force to the Governorates’ health centers to check how the programme is implemented and to determine the effect of the training on workplace performance and evaluate whether the learning outcomes were met.
