The Ministry of Health, represented by Directorate General of Quality Assurance Center launched today (Tuesday) at the Al Nahdah Hospital the Patient Safety Friendly Hospital initiative (PSFH). The launching was held with the presence of Dr. Ahmed Salim Al Mandhari, Director General of Quality Assurance Center.
Dr. Al Mandhari pointed out that PSFH assessment is based on five domains which are leadership and management, Patient and public involvement, Safe evidence-based clinical practice, Safe environment, and lifelong-learning.
It is worth mentioning that assessment process of the Patient Safety Friendly Hospitals is a mechanism has been developed to assess the patient safety in hospitals.
The Patient Safety Friendly Hospital initiative is one of the World Health Organization’s initiatives aims to assist the health institutions to start implementing a program on patient safety. This initiative has been launched before at many governmental hospitals namely Nizwa, Rustaq and Khaula, as well as at private hospitals; Starcare and Aster.
