H.E. Dr. Ahmed Mohammed Al Saidi, Minister of Health opened today (Sunday) the new Renal Dialysis unit in A’seeb Polyclinic.
The new unit cost around R.O. 1,800,000, with a generous contribution made by the Saud Bahwan Charitable Foundation. It comprises of 28 equipped beds distributed on four sections; two for adults and two for children.
It runs by around (90) medical staff; doctors, nurses, technicians, pharmacists, nutritionists and others. In the next stage, the unit will deliver Dialysis services to the patients with Kidney failure, which is a new addition to reduce the load over the Renal Dialysis Center in Bausher.
The Minister of Health stressed in a statement that the kidney failure disease is increasing significantly and the main causes of this disease are diabetes and hypertension. He also pointed out that every month there is an increase in the number of Omani patients need for renal dialysis which reach 12 to 15 patients.
