Within the celebration of the World Blood Donor Day, which comes this year under the theme “Blood connects us all”, the Ministry of Health (MOH) represented by the Department of Blood Banks Services (BBS) honored today (Wednesday) the blood donors including individuals and establishments that contributed in the success of blood donation campaigns. The honoring ceremony was held under the auspices of H.E. Dr. Ahmed Mohammed Al Saidi, Minister of Health, at Al Noor Hall.
Dr. Sabriah Nassir Al Hashami, Director of Blood Banks Services department affirmed in her speech that the need of providing safe blood requires the collaboration of all individuals, authorities, and institutions of the community.
Gifts and appreciations certificates were distributed to 186 donors including those with rare blood groups and donors of blood platelets.
The celebration also honored 71 government, private, and non-governmental organizations that constantly cooperate with the BBS and contributed in making blood donation campaigns a success.
It is woth noting that this honoring ceremony is a recognition from the Ministry for the donors’ noble deeds to encourage them for more giving as well as to promote other community individuals to pursue their track.
