For the First Time, Catheter Operation Performed Live from National Heart Center to TOBI Conference

The National Heart Center of the Royal Hospital, represented by the Cardiac Catheter Department has transmitted a catheter operation for a patient under local anesthesia to the TOBI Conference, Total Occlusion & Bifurcation Interventions in a live broadcasting in Rome, Italy. The operation was followed-up through the interaction between the doctors in the TOBI conference along with the doctors in Operation Theater in the Royal Hospital.

A specialized medical team has performed the operation under the supervision of Dr. Mohammed al-Riyami, senior consultant in the Center. Dr. al-Riyami stressed that TOBI is an international conference held annually in Rome, the capital of Italy and attended by a group of specialists from all different specializations. In addition, for the first time, the operation has transmitted live from the National Heart Center to the TOBI conference in Italy which brought together around 1500 doctors from Europe, North Africa and Middle East.      

He also added that, the operation was carried within 45-minutes and latest types of technologies has been used. The Sultanate, represented by the National Heart Center has been nominated to perform this operation and broadcasted live to the TOBI conference comes after the visit of Prof. Rime Raimer and to what he touched in the Center through the availability of advanced equipment, as well as due to efficiency of the medical staff.

Dr. Mohammed said that the operation has praised by the all attendees in the conference after it has been made successfully.
