The Sultanate, represented by the Ministry of Health will participate in the 63rd session of the World Health Organization Regional Committee for the Eastern Mediterranean to be held in Cairo from 03rd to 06th of October.
The Sultanate’s delegation is headed by H.E. Dr. Ahmed bin Mohammed al-Saidi, Minister of Health. Ministers of health and high-level representatives of the 22 countries and territories of the WHO Eastern Mediterranean Region along with number of partner organizations, civil society and UN experts will take part in this meeting.
The WHO governing body at the regional level aims to discuss the mechanism of developing the health policies and visions which contribute to serve the countries of the region.
In this context, the meeting will discuss at its session a number of main items related to the technical health issues concerned with upgrading the family practice and reaching the universal health coverage. In addition to discuss the importance of providing the assistive technology for all, as well as the strategic frameworks in order to promote the health laboratory and blood transfusion services.
The 4-day program will also discuss progress reports on polio eradication, emerging and re-emerging diseases including dengue fever and hemorrhagic fever, prevention and control of non-communicable diseases, implementing the International Health Regulation, universal health coverage and developing number of basic health services. These reports provide the latest developments on implementing the decisions approved by the Regional Committee at previous sessions.
