WHO Honors Two Characters in the Field of Tobacco Control

On the occasion of the World No Tobacco Day, which falls on May 13 of each year, the World Health Organization Office (WHO) in Muscat honored yesterday Wednesday a number of characters who made a significant and valuable contributions on tobacco control at the WHO headquarters.
The ceremony was held under the patronage of H.E. Dr. Mohammed bin Saif al-Hosni, undersecretary of Ministry of Health for Health Affairs and chairman of the National Committee for Tobacco Control in the presence of Dr. Routh Maibri, from the WHO office in the Sultanate.
At the Middle East level, the WHO selects and honors six characters or organizations that have a major role in tobacco control. In this year, the honoring included two characters from the Sultanate, Honorable/ Issa bin Said al-Kiyumi, member of the State Council of Oman and chairman of the Oman Human Rights Commission, as well as Honorable/ Sabah bint Mohammed al-Bahlania, member of the State Council of Oman.
