National Campaign on kidney Diseases Concludes
15/11/2016H.E. Dr. Ahmed bin Mohammed al-Saidi, Minister of Health patronized today Tuesday at Zakhir Mall the conclusion of the national awareness campaign for prevention of kidney diseases.
The awareness campaign has organized by the Ministry of Health (MOH), represented by the Non-communicable Diseases Department in the Directorate General of Primary Healthcare. It related to the kidney diseases, its risk factors like blood pressure and diabetes and the ways of prevention.
The campaign, which lasted till this November 2016, included several activities and events in all the Sultanate’s Governorates especially the colleges, high schools and some public areas.
Number of General Directors of Health Services and Directors of Primary Health Care in the Governorates were attended this event.
Dr. Said al-Lamki, Director General of Primary Healthcare stressed in his speech to the importance of this campaign, as well as to the importance of early detection of chronic diseases, where 80% of the diseases that cause kidney failure can be prevented. He also added that this campaign came to raise the health awareness of the community especially on the causes of kidney diseases like diabetes and blood pressure.
At the end of the ceremony, the Minister honored number of community members and private sector institutions who contributed in the success of the campaign.
