The initiative of the Fellowship Fund for the employees of the Ministry of Health (MOH) achieved remarkable success for the Sultanate as it set a new world record for most people blowing out candles simultaneously. The initiative was in collaboration with number of private sector institutions released on Monday at Qurum amphitheater under the auspices of H.E. Sheikh Khalid Omar Al Marhoon, Minister of Civil Service with the presence of number of Ministers, undersecretaries, and invitees.

 The event was refereed by Glenn Pollard, Guinness World Records Adjudicator, who judged the five-second-long candle lighting and blowing that were held by 1717 people forming the shape and colors of the Oman flag.

 This event symbolized the hope, light, and success brought by H.M. Qaboos bin Said, Sultan of Oman and it was part of the country’s 46th National Day celebration.

The event included was preceded by the (Flag Candle) Operetta that was sang by schoolchildren, expressing their patriotic soul with lyrics.

It should be noted that the earlier record was set in China in 2015 and included 841 candles.
