Royal Hospital Performs New Cardiac Catheterization Technique28/11/2016
The National Heart Center in Royal Hospital performed recently, for the first time in the Sultanate, a Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation (TAVI) procedures, by using a catheter technique instead of using a classical open heart surgery.
The TAVI's procedures was performed successfully through several stages for five patients suffered for long standing from severe aortic valve stenosis at the new Hybrid Catheterization Lab in the National Heart Center in Royal Hospital. It was performed by a well-developed trained medical staff which was consist of five specialized teams; senior Consultant cardiologists, senior Consultant Cardiac Surgeons, Cardiovascular Technologists, Cardiac Anaethesists and Cardiac Nurses.
Dr. Redha, Senior Consultant Interventional Cardiologist, is a visitor from Kingdom of Saudi Arabia said: “Performing this new technique Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation (TAVI) by using catheterization technique instead of using classical open heart surgery has a great effort and long development processes through many big studies for the benefits to the communities and humanity globally”.
