Ministry of Health (MOH) represented by Al Nahdha Hospital’s the Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) department conducted today Sunday a course on Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) management at the hospital’s conference hall. The course was inaugurated with the presence of Dr. Mazin Al Khaboori, Director General of Private Establishments, and Dr. Qamra Al Sariri, hospital director. The three-day course witnessed a large participation of medical cadre from the Sultanate and other countries.

The first day included various lectures on the OSA diagnosis and management, airway evaluation and Drug-induced sleep endoscopy (DISE) procedure, and coblation tongue base reduction in OSA. Moreover, lectures considered palatal procedures and anesthesia in OSA surgery.  The second day will present live surgeries and display videos about difficult problems in management and diagnosis of OSA. The third day will allow the participant to perform surgeries for the most surgical procedures.

It is worth to mention that this course was first conducted in 2009 and was continued since as a regular feature of the ENT department activity. This year’s course is unique as it conducts live surgeries that will be performed by renowned specialists in their respective fields from different parts of the world to train the participants and allow them to apply what they have learnt.
