The Ministry of Health (MOH), represented by the Studies & Research Center and in collaboration with the Nutrition Department, Non-Communicable Diseases Department and International Organizations (World Health Organization & UNICEF) is recently conduct National Survey of Non-communicable Diseases and Tobacco, as well as National Survey of Nutrition in all over the Governorates of the Sultanate by visiting selected households in every governorate.

These surveys aims to set up an accurate health database concerned with the non-communicable diseases for the families and individuals especially for adults (15-year and above). In addition, set up a similar database concerned with nutrition of families and individuals especially for children under five years and women in reproductive age (15 – 49 years), which help to recognize the morbidity causes, its risk factors and impact in the future.

A specialized field team is currently visiting the selected households for approval to participate in the National Survey of Nutrition by fill out the family and children questionnaires through the authorized person, as well as the individual questionnaire for women in reproductive age. After taking the approval, the survey requires taking blood samples of children and women for some families.

It is worth mentioning that, the Studies & Research Center will conduct later the National Survey of Non-communicable Diseases and Tobacco during February – April, 2017.

Thus, the MOH calls upon everyone to cooperate with the teams in order to facilitate obtaining the required data.
