Health Minster Reviews Accreditation Canada Final Report

On the occasion of achieving the International Accreditation from the Accreditation Canada, the Royal Hospital (RH) organized recently an event under the auspices of H.E. Dr. Ahmed Mohammad Al Saidi, Minister of Health to review the final report issued by the organization and prepared by the Canadian Experts Team that visited the hospital. The event was attended by H.E. Dr. Sultan Ya’rub Al Busaidi, MOH Advisor for Health Affairs, Dr. Qasim Al Salmi, RH Director General, and number of officials and the hospital’s administrative, medical and paramedical staff.
it is noted that the Royal Hospital (RH) with all its services and affiliated National Centers has recently achieved International Accreditation from the Accreditation Canada, an organization that approves standards of excellence in quality care and services of Canadian health institutions and hospitals.
The final report indicated that the hospital with all medical and administrative services and affiliated national centers fulfilled 2132 of the international standards (93% of the applicable standards), which is a very high percentage compared to other accredited hospitals.
Compliance with the standards showed a positive feedback, which reflect the different dimensions of quality such as safety and efficiency. The compliance level in the field of efficiency reached 94%, and compliance with the safety standards reached 90%.
the report pay tribute to the most significant initiatives of promoting performance such as (LEAN) set to develop patients flow, raising efficiency of resources use and reducing waste.
the report mentioned the challenges facing the hospital, most of which was the increasing number of patients in the Sections of Emergency, Intensive Care, and Operation under a capacity that made it mandatory to be developed in order to meet the expectations of patients and their families.
The report recommended the necessity of reconsidering available spaces of Out-Pharmacy and expanding the hospital other facilities to cope with the increasing number of patients. Moreover, the report indicated that the hospital needs to develop preparedness plans for crises cases and approving their efficiency.
