GCC Cancer Awareness Week 2017 Launched

The National Oncology Center (NOC) at the Royal Hospital (RH) in collaboration with the Oman Cancer Association (OCA) launched on Tuesday the second GCC Cancer Awareness Week, which will be continued for seven successive days during the first week of February. The launching was attended by Dr. Qasim Al Salmi, RH director general, and Dr. Bassim Al Bahrani, NOC director with the participation of the medical and administrative staff of NOC along with patients at the center’s Auditorium.

The GCC Cancer Awareness Week that comes under the slogan “40% protection; 40% cure,” aims at unifying the media messages in the GCC in the field of Cancer awareness as well as promoting healthy diet and lifestyle. Furthermore, it aims at raising awareness among community individuals on the significance of cancer early detection by identifying the main symptoms of the different cancer oncology diseases.     

Dr. Bassim Al Bahrani, NOC director pointed out in his speech that the activities of the campaign that will be held during the 1st to the 7th of February aim to strengthen the relations between health cedars and all community categories to reduce the prevalence of cancer throughout awareness programs and activities. They also aim at activating programmes to fight against cancer as a shared responsibility between government and non-governmental sectors.

It is worth to mention that the activities of the GCC Cancer Awareness Week Campaign will be carried out in several locations most of which are Muscat Grand Mall, RH, Oman Medical College, Higher College of Technology, Bushar Polyclinic, A’seeb Specialty Polyclinic, Al Qurm Park, and Sur hospital.
