Dr. Mohammed Hamdan Al Rubai’e, Director General of Pharmaceutical Affairs and Drug Control chaired the second meeting of the pharmaceutical violations committee. The meeting reviewed number of violations committed by pharmaceutical companies and pharmacists worked in these institutions.
The committee signed number of penalties according to the type and magnitude of the violations including warning number of pharmacies not to repeat suchirregularities. The penalties also included imposing a fine on some pharmaceutical institutions and on number of pharmacists in the range of (RO 500 - RO 1000). In addition, a pharmacy was closed and the license of practicing the profession was withdrawn from a pharmacist.
The Ministry of Health urges all citizens and residents not to hesitate in reporting on any violations or illegal practices. Thereby, the MOH calls upon all people not to request any antibiotics without a prescription to ensure the health and safety of everyone and to commit to the dispensing of medications after visiting a doctor and as per prescription.
