H.E. Dr. Ahmed bin Mohammed al-Saidi, Minister of Health issued a ministerial decision to form a National Committee of Integrated Vector Management (IVM) headed by H.E. Dr. Mohammed bin Saif al-Hosni, Undersecretary of Ministry of Health for Health Affairs and membership of number of relevant authorities.
The Committee shall be competent to prepare the national policy for the integrated vector management, as well as the comprehensive national strategies and action plans that include: reviewing the current status of IVM resources, activities and programs and identifying its shortness, identifying the required needs and resources in order to implement the IVM activities in coordination with all concerned public and civil sectors, developing and adopting surveillance mechanisms for vector diseases and developing the scientific standards to select the IVM tools such as pesticides and others according to the outcomes of entomological surveillance and scientific developments in this field.
The Committee shall also concerned with enhancing cooperation and integration among all public, civil and community sectors in the field of vector control and developing follow-up and coordination frameworks, preparing the annual national report on IVM progress in the Sultanate, as well as developing an awareness plan in the field of vector control in collaboration with the public and civil authorities.
