Blood Banks Services Calls for Blood Donation
19/9/2017With regard to the second phase of the National Measles Immunization Campaign (NMIC) that targeted people in the age group of (20 – 35), and due to blood donation conditions that stated unwillingness of the vaccinated category to donate blood unless after one month of taking the vaccine, the Blood Banks Services (BBS) Department of the Ministry of Health (MOH) has accordingly organized several blood donation campaigns prior to the NMIC in order to encounter any shortage of blood units and components that may occur.
It is worth to mention that the targeted age group category represents 56%, which has the most donors during 2016. Therefore, The Ministry calls upon all age groups that the vaccination campaign has not included to take the initiative of donating blood. The Ministry invites all organizations and authorities both governmental and private to organize blood donation campaigns to meet the daily supplies of blood for the different health institutions.
