In line with the World Pharmacists Day, which comes on 25th of September every year, the Directorate General of Health Services at the Governorate of Dhofar represented by the Pharmaceutical Care & Medical Store Department organized recently the Dhofar First Pharmacy Forum. The event was held at the Sultan Qaboos Youth Complex for Culture and Entertainment, Salalah under the auspices of H.E. Eng. Mohammed Abu Baker Al Ghassani, Deputy Chairperson of the Shura Council and Salalah Representative of Shura Council, with the presence of Dr. Khaled Muhammad Al Mushaikhi, Director General H.S Dhofar, as well as number of MOH and the Governorate’s Government & Private Interests officials.
The Forum targeted Pharmacists and Pharmacist assistants, and medical and medical assistants’ categories. The two-day Forum aimed at recognizing the pharmacists’ role in the provision of comprehensive pharmacy care and upgrading health services for the patient. Moreover, the forum aimed at emphasizing the humanitarian aspect of the pharmacy profession.
The opening ceremony included many working papers on the regulations and ethics of the profession. The forum furthermore addressed some clinical topics such as Anti-Microbial and Diabetic medications rational use.
In addition, the forum included an accompanying exhibition that was organized by the Oman Pharmacy Association in collaboration with the forum organizing committee. The exhibition contained around 22 research papers on various issues related to the latest advancements and research in pharmacy sciences. It also include number of leaflets and presentations that were prepared by the pharmacists in the Sultanate different Governorates.
