The Ministry of Health (MOH), represented by the Directorate General of Specialized Medical Care (DGSMC), the Therapeutic Services Development Section, in collaboration with the Sultan Qaboos University organized yesterday Monday at the Continuing Professional Development Center a workshop on the Evidence-Based Medicine.

The two-day workshop aims at learning the practice of evidence based medicine, developing, teaching, and promoting evidence-based healthcare through a variety of methods, as well as creating an evidence based medicine community and facilitate networking and resources sharing between individuals and hospitals.

Dr. Kazim Jafar Suliman, DGSMC Director General along with number of medical staff attended workshop.

Dr. Matloba al-Zajali, Head of Therapeutic Services Development pointed out in her welcoming speech to the aims and basis of the workshop.

The workshop discusses several issues on principles & basic practices of evidence based medicine, types & sources of literatures, formulating research questions, finding the best evidence and the way of appraising various type of studies including randomized control trials, diagnostic studies, prognostic studies, and meta-analysis of systematic reviews.
