H.E. Sayyidah Dr. Mona Fahad Mahmmod A’l Saeed, Assistant Vice Chancellor of International Cooperation at Sultan Qaboos University (SQU) inaugurated recently the fifth Omani Society of Obstetrics & Gynecology (OSOG) International Conference at the Crown Plaza Hotel, Muscat, with the presence of H.E. Dr. Ahmed Mohammed Al Saidi, minister of Health. The conference is organized in collaboration with the Arab Maternal Fetal Medicine expert group (AMFMEG), in addition to the Royal Hospital (RH), Sultan Qaboos University Hospital (SQUH), and number of public and private hospitals.

The conference, held during 15-18 of November, presented 12 working papers on all specialties of Obstetrics & Gynecology, hosting 35 speakers from the Sultanate and abroad namely are the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Lebanon, Portugal, France, and United Kingdom.

At the commencement of the ceremony, Dr. Tamemah Rashid Al Dughaishi, President of the OSOG, pointed out that the Society since its establishment in 2013 is working at providing the perfect platform and the scientific work environment to medical and assistants medical workers in the Sultanate different halth institutions. the OSOG is keen at holding such international conferences, underling that this conference aims at  updating the participants to the latest advancement in the field, as well as exchanging expertise among the different medical personnel, in order to enhance the provided medical services.

Later, Dr. Sultanah Khan, Senior Consultant and Head of OG in Khaoula hospital, marked the health care progress witnessed in the past years regarding the health of pregnant, who are being regularly followed up in the health centers resulting in the reduction of side effects and complications during pregnancy and labor.

Furthermore, the patron of the conference opened the accompanying exhibition that included several posters on Obstetrics & Gynecology.

Earlier, the conference was preceded by four-day working sessions.
