Health Organized Good Pharmacy Practice Annual Workshop

The Ministry of Health represented by the Directorate General of Pharmaceutical Affairs & Drug Control held today (Sunday) the 13th Annual Workshop on Good Pharmacy Practice (GPP) at the Sheraton Oman hotel. The workshop opening ceremony was inaugurated under the auspices of H.E. Dr. Sultan Ya’rub Al Busaidi, MOH Advisor for Health Affairs with the presence of the directors general of the Governorates’ Pharmaceutical care and Drug Store.
The event, which joined more than 400 participants from the Sultanate’s different private pharmacy institutions, aimed at developing and upgrading the professional and practical performance level of the pharmacists & assistant pharmacists.
The opening program commenced by a welcome speech delivered by Dr. Mohammed Hamdan Al Rubaie, Director General of DGPA&DC. Dr. Al Rubaie highlighted the importance of the workshop that targets the most significant pharmaceutical sectors that is Community Pharmacy. It provides drugs for all public and private health units therefore improving and upgrading this sector ensures the provision of safe cost-effective medicine.
The opening moreover shed light on the eHealth Portal services provided by DGPA&DC.
Furthermore, the event honored the best pharmacists and assistant pharmacists of 2017 in addition to five best Pharmaceutical Establishments. Later, the patron of the event opened the Exhibition of the sponsoring companies in which displayed the latest scientific drug innovations and medical supplies.
The scientific program of the workshop included two sessions that addressed number of significant topics such as the Antimicrobial Use as Surgical Prophylaxis in private hospitals,Drugs Quality Problems Reports, as well as the new policy to demonstrate the management of Narcotics & Psychotropic Substances. The lectures of the workshopfurther reviewedquality management system in pharmaceutical industry and explored experiences of clinical Pharmacy Practice in private hospital.
