4/2/2018The scientific programs of the 1st International Royal Hospital Conference continues for the second day. In addition to the Eight specialized scientific programs that were launched on Saturday within the first day of the international conference including Nuclear Medicine, Child Health, Obstetrics & Gynecology, Radiology, Anesthesia, ICU, Oncology, and Urology, another four specialized medical programs started today comprising medicine, Genetics, Microbiology, and Histology. Medicine Conference program addressed updates and state of the art management of various health problems for two-day. Moreover, genetics was highlighted in the conference through holding the National Genetic Centre conference, which included a variety of topics. The National Genetic Centre scientific program reviewed Genetic and Metabolic Disorders in Oman, Human Genome Project, Newborn Screening for inherited metabolic diseases (IMDs), as well as Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) Technology, Neurogenetics & Tumor Genetics, Genetics of Hematological Malignancies, and Genetics of Intellectual Disability. It further included two workshops on Genetic Counselling and Family Pedigree.
Sunday’s scientific programs also included Microbiology and Histopathology conferences. Topics related to Microbiology underlined Diagnosis of Microbial Diseases, Microbial Infections, and Laboratory Management, whereas Histopathology program addressed Update in Sinonasal Pathology, approach to Monomorphic Spindle Cell tumours, and common bone and soft tissue lesions of the Head and Neck.
It is worth noted that the first Royal Hospital International Conference, organized by the Ministry of Health (MOH) represented by the Directorate General of Royal Hospital in collaboration with the Oman Medical Specialties Board (OMSB) and the Oman Medical Association (OMA), was inaugurated on Saturday at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Center under the auspices of HH Sayyid Dr. Fahad bin Aljulanda Al Said, Assistant Secretary General for Innovation Development, the Research Council (TRC).
