DGDSC Organizes HIV/ AIDS Training Workshop for Healthcare Workers
3/5/2018The Directorate-General of Diseases Surveillance & Control (DGDSC) in Ministry of Health (MOH), represented by the Department of Communicable Diseases organised today (Thursday) at the City Seasons Hotel a training workshop for the healthcare workers on the Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (HIV/ AIDS).
The workshop held in the presence of Dr. Saif Al-Abri, DGDSC Director General with participation of around 50 doctors, nurses and counsellors from various hospitals in the Sultanate.
The workshop aimed to raise the clinical competence of the participants on the latest update of HIV treatment, enhance the trainees to identify and management of the appropriate treatment for the incurable cases and the diagnosis methods. In addition, it displayed a number of cases to address the challenges, as well as highlighted the suitable ways to guide the patients to start the treatment and follow-up in the government health institutions in the Governorates.
Dr. Al-Abri pointed out in his welcoming speech that the Sultanate has made great efforts in HIV/ AIDS treatment and a number of achievements to improve the services provided for the people living with HIV/ AIDS in the Sultanate. He also added that the treatment is provided for all those who living with HIV/ AIDS, follow-up them by the specialists, providing counseling on living with the disease for them and their families, as well as the Ministry provides all the necessary medicines and the required medical check-up.
