Awareness Campaign on Organ Donation & Human Tissue
Awareness Campaign on Organ Donation & Human Tissue11/12/2022
The Ministry of Health (MOH), represented by the Health Education & Program Department and in cooperation with the National Organ Transplantation Program, organized today (Sunday) a workshop for the Awareness Campaign on Organ Donation & Human Tissue.
The workshop aimed to train health educators on cultivating the organ donation culture among society individuals, donation phases, encouraging individuals to donate organs as a social interaction from the Islamic law perspective, and educating patients on organ donation procedures.
It is worth mentioning that the organ donation procedure performs whether the donor is alive or brain dead. In some instances, donor donation is the only hope of saving other people's lives. Organ donation can be performed for all ages, as the health of organs is more important than age.
The donor's age should not be below 18 if the donor is alive, provided that the donor is physically healthy and psychologically stable. If the donor is brain dead, the physicians determine whether the organs are suitable for transplantation.
