The third edition of Muscat International Dermatology Conference, which isorganized by the Ministry of Health (MOH), represented by the Department of Dermatology & Genitourinary Medicine (G.U.M) at Al Nahdha Hospital in collaboration with the Oman Dermatology Society (ODS), began today (Saturday) at the Grand Millennium Muscat.
The inauguration ceremony was held under the auspices of H.E. Dr. Ali bin Talib Al Hanai, MOH Undersecretary for Planning Affairs, with the presence Dr. Fatima Al-Ajmiah, Director General of Health Services of Muscat Governorate and Dr. Fatima Al-Blushiah, ODS President along with a number MOH’s officials, presidents of medical Societies and Associations.
The ceremony included an inaugural address presented by Dr. Abla Al Ismaily, Sr. Consultant & conference President. Dr. Al Ismaily affirmed the importance of having such gathering in a biannual basis that is dedicated to dermatology and skin care. She emphasized that it provides the best platform for specialists to highlight their knowledge in dermatological science, products and services and stay up-to-date on the latest developments in the field of dermatology.
The patron of the event then inaugurated the scientific exhibition of the pharmaceutical companies and sponsors.
Muscat Derm III aimed at exchanging healthcare and medical knowledge in the field among the participating 200 specialists, practitioners, as well as residents and medical students.
During the two-day, a range of topics will be covered at the conference by Medical and Dermatology professionals from every subspecialty worldwide catering on Pediatric Dermatology, Dermato Therapeutics, Andrology, Biologics & Psoriasis, Photobiology & Laser, Nail Diseases, Dermatosurgery, Sexually Transmitted Infections, Cosmetology, Skin Allergies, Acne, Atopic Dermatitis and other challenging cases.
Throughout the first day of the conference, diagnosis and management of skin infections in pediatric patients as well as the common neonatal Dermatitis are being highlighted. In addition, sessions addressed update in urticarial management, the myriad faces of Atopic Eczema among children with skin of color, along with phototherapy in psoriasis & vitiligo as well as update on psoriasis management.
Moreover, the conference will address management of fungal of Skin in addition to vascular tumor & malformations and laser uses in scars management. Furthermore, session will highlight update of alopecia areata and treatments and the Tofacitinib future uses in dermatology.
Besides the main sessions, the conference is conducting several workshops during the two days embarking on aesthetic treatment and the new injections technique of fillers and Botox.
Notably, the conference was preceded on Friday by a one-day teaching and training workshop on Dermatopathology at Al Nahda Hospital. The workshop discussed Dermal Histology and its clinical applications. Dermatologists from the public and private sector as well as the Oman Medical Specialties Board students attended the workshop.
