Oman Obesity Conference Concludes with Significant Recommendations23/10/2018
The First Oman Obesity Conference concluded recently at the Crown Plaza Hotel – Qurum.
During two-day, the Conference addressed several issues including obesity and nutrition, therapeutic feeding for obesity and latest studies in the field of obesity treatment by medications, obesity in children and women, plans and resolutions for obesity prevention, impact of weight loss, mental health for obese patient, as well as obesity surgery.
The Conference resulted in a number of recommendations including; obesity is a global challenge that requires multiple approaches at community level and different levels of healthcare system, all healthcare systems are challenged by the obesity pandemic, Oman has great opportunity to tackle obesity, capacity building of the multidisciplinary teams is essential, as well as ensure having quality care for people with obesity.
The First Oman Obesity Conference was organized by the Ministry of Health (MOH), represented by the National Diabetes and Endocrine Center (NDEC) in collaboration with the Oman Diabetes Association and the Embassy of the United States of America (USA) in Oman.
