The First Khoula Hospital National Pain Management Conference kick off on Saturday at Sundus Rotana Hotel under the patronage of H.E. Hamed bin Suliman Al-Gribi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Regional Municipalities & Water Resources for Regional Municipalities Affairs in the presence of H.E. Dr. Ali bin Talib Al-Hinai, Undersecretary of Ministry of Health for Planning Affairs.
The two-day Conference, which came under the theme: "Catch Pain before it catches you" is organized by the Ministry of Health (MOH), represented by the Directorate General of Khoula Hospital (DGKH), Department of Pain Management.
Around 22 experts, specialists and researchers in the field of pain management, surgery and anesthesia from the Sultanate, the UK and India are participating in the Conference.
The Conference gathering 150 participants from various medical cadres working in different MOH hospitals, Sultan Qaboos University Hospital, Armed Forces Hospital, as well as a number of private health institutions.
The Conference address a number of related issues including the clinical diagnosis in chronic low back pain, the ultrasound and radiation safety in pain management, palliative care in Oman, psychological issues in pain management, surgical treatment options in trigeminal neuralgia and pain management in abdominal malignancy.
The Conference aims at raising awareness on chronic pain cases, identifying the non-surgical solutions and pain treatment by scientifically proven methods.
