Within the celebration of the sixth anniversary on eradication of trachoma in the Sultanate, H.E. Dr. Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Saidi, Minister of Health received on Monday at Grand Hayyat Hotel a certificate on validation of elimination of trachoma in the Sultanate, which is granted by the Eastern Mediterranean Region Trachoma Alliance in cooperation with the World Health Organization (WHO) and the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness (IAPB).

The WHO recognized in November of the same year, that the Sultanate is free of trachoma, thus it became the first country in the World to be recognized as it is free of this disease and a model for the other countries.
