MOH Discusses Latest Development of Aedes Aegypti

The National Integrated Vector Management Committee met on Thursday at the Ministry of Health (MOH) headquarters to discuss the efforts and procedures on eradication of Aedes Aegypti, recently discovered in some areas in Muscat Governorate. 

H.E. Dr. Mohammed bin Saif Al-Hosni, MOH Undersecretary for Health Affairs presided over the meeting in the presence of a number of committee members, representatives of various government sectors.

The meeting discussed the latest developments related to the geographical spread of the mosquito, insect investigation, as well as the efforts of the Ministry of Health and Muscat Municipality to eradicate this mosquito.

The meeting resulted in number of recommendation, of which the most significant are bridging the legislative gaps to address the malpractices that help to breed and spread this mosquito, coordinating the joint efforts to enhance the health and raise the awareness among the community to eliminate these vectors, as well as the need to develop the executive plan for the national strategy of the vector integrated management urgently.

The Ministry of Health urged citizens and residents to cooperate with the investigation teams for the common good.
