Symposium Highlights Application of Radiation Safety in Oman9/1/2019
Symposium on the Challenges in the Application of Radiation Safety in Oman was held on (Tuesday) at the Oman College of Health Sciences Auditorium under the patronage of H.E. Dr. Ali Talib Al Hanai, Ministry of Health’s Undersecretary for Planning Affairs.
The symposium is organized by the Directorate General of Specialized Medical Care, MOH as well as Department of Medical Imaging, Oman Collage of Health Sciences (OCHS) to shed light on the specialty of Radiology in the Sultanate that proves advancement on health diagnostics field. it aimed at strengthening radiation safety culture and raise awareness on the importance of ionizing radiation protection regulations in improving the radiological services and patient safety.
The symposium joined number of and radiology workers including Radiologists, Radiographers, Medical Physicists, Physicians as well as other allied professions.
Dean of OCHS Dr. Mustafa Mohammed Fahmi highlighted at his welcome speech that the event would discuss the challenges facing Radiology department in the Sultanate regarding the application and prevention methods of radiation by hosting professions specialized in the field of radiation safety.
The scientific program of the symposium included spectrum of topics that touched upon the challenges on justifying radiological Examinations and the impact of advanced radiological technology on radiography practice.
The symposium moreover highlighted the structure of Radiology Departments in Oman in addition to the professional control of Radiography practice. An emphasis was put on the history of Radiation Protection Services in Oman in addition to the health and assessment proposal for radiation workers.
