The Ministry of Health (MOH), represented by the Collaborative Center of World Health Organization (WHO) for Quality & Patient Safety is hosting today (Monday) in cooperation with the WHO Regional Office for the Eastern Mediterranean (WHO-EMRO) the Experts Consultation Meeting on Preparing an Implementation Plan for Quality and Safety during Adversity and Emergencies at Holiday Inn Hotel.
The two-day meeting aims at developing an implementation framework for quality and safety during adversity, reviewing the main challenges and priorities of quality during emergencies, assessing the initial results of the quality, and developing the main tools needed to ensure the quality and safety of healthcare services in emergencies.
The meeting convened in the presence of Dr. Qamra Al-Saririah, MOH Director General of Quality Assurance Center and Dr. Rashid Al-Abri, Director of the WHOCollaborative Center for Quality & Patient Safety of the Ministry of Health.
More than 20 WHO-EMRO experts along with participants from the Sultanate are attending the consultation meeting.
Dr. Qamra Al-Saririah pointed out that the patient safety is a cornerstone for the health services and this consultation meeting will be a good opportunity to share experiences and discuss the challenges in order to have unified policies on providing a safe service for all patients.
On the other hand, Dr. Al-Abri stressed that the Sultanate has made significant and impressive progress in the field of quality and patient safety which has largely contributed by continuous collaboration with the WHO-EMRO, as well as the WHO regional headquarters in developing and implementing patient safety tools in different hospitals settings.
