The Ministry of Health (MOH), represented by the Directorate General of Health Services of Dhofar Governorate celebrated recently the inauguration of Shalem Hospital in the Wilayat of Shalem and Juzor Al-Hallaniyat.

H.E. Dr. Darweesh bin Saif Al-Muharbi, MOH Undersecretary for Administrative & Financial Affairs inaugurated the Hospital in the presence of a number of Walies.

With a contribution from the Petroleum Development Oman (PDO), the total cost of the Hospital exceeded one million Omani Riyal.

Abdullah bin Obaid Al-Bathari, Administration Services Superintendent pointed out that MOH is working hard to provide the health services for all citizens, wherever they are. The Ministry always ensures to cooperate with all public and private sectors to establish new health institutions and enhance the existing ones, providing the medical cadres and equipped with high-quality medical devices.     

Al-Bathari also added that PDO has expanded the center to a hospital by adding high-quality and advanced health services such as an equipped accidents & emergency unit, (14) beds for admission, laundry and cleaning services, as well as feeding service for the admitted patients.

Eng. Abdul-Amir Al-Ajmi, PDO Director of External Affairs & Added Creation stated that in 2012, PDO funded the project of building Shalem Health Center according to the MOH standards. In 2016, it has been decided to upgrade the Health Center to a Hospital in order to provide more services.

Al-Ajmi added that three additional wards for men, women and children have been built, in addition to isolation rooms, fully equipped emergency department and other facilities and necessary medical devices.
