The 8th Oman National Surgical Conference, organized by the Oman Surgical Society (OSS) commenced today (Friday)at Millennium Resort Al-Mussanah under the patronage of H.E. Dr. Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Saidi, Minister of Health.
More than (300) surgeons, primary care physicians, residents, nurses, nurse practitioners, hospital administrators, paramedics from various health institutions in the Sultanate, as well as medical students are attending the National Conference.
The 8th Oman National Surgical Conference aims atidentifying the latest surgical updates, sharing innovative ideas and practices designed to improve patients care and addressing the latest researches and innovation in the surgical field.
In her opening speech, Dr. Zainab Al-Balushi, Senior Consultant of Pediatric Surgery at Sultan Qaboos University Hospital and OSS Chairperson asserted that this gathering aims to improve the surgery methods in order to meet the treatment standards and to create and innovate the best in this field.
Dr. Suleiman Al-Shamsi, Head of General Surgery Department in the Royal Hospital and President of the Scientific Committee pointed out in his speech that the Conference seeks to strengthen the communication between the health institutions, as well as exchanging experiences and scientific opinions between the participants. He also added that the Conference covers most surgery specialties through nine scientific workshops and addresses the latest researches in these specialties.
The two-day Conference touches upon number of issues related to surgery specialties including general surgery, breast & colorectal surgery, endocrine & hepatobiliary surgery, pediatric surgery, trauma & thoracic surgery, as well as vascular surgery.
