MOH Celebrates the Conclusion of Muscat Campaign for Elimination of Aedes Aegypti Mosquito
17/3/2019H.E. Dr. Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Saidi, Minister of Health patronized on Thursday the conclusion ceremony of the Muscat Campaign for Elimination of Aedes Aegypti Mosquito at the Oman Convention & Exhibition Center.
The ceremony, which organized by the Ministry of Health (MOH) and Muscat Municipality, held in the presence of H.E. Eng. Mohsin bin Mohammed Al-Sheikh, Chairman of the Muscat Municipality along with a number of representatives from the relevant authorities.
Dr. Saif Al-Abri, Director General of Diseases Surveillance & Control and Chairman of Main Committee of the Campaign pointed out in his speech that the Ministry of Health and the Muscat Municipality pursued the transparency to announce the number of people infected with dengue fever and insect research results. A well-established plan has been developed for community communication and creating effective communication channels, which enhanced the mutual trust between the government sectors and the community, prevented the rumors and success of the Campaign.
Al-Abri also added that the central committee of the Campaign proved its ability to train about 1000 persons from various sectors and cover 90% of targeted houses and establishments. He addressed that the campaign introduced an application for the field data using by the campaign teams in order to update the data immediately.
The ceremony included a visual presentation about the Campaign. At the end, the Minister of Health and the Chairman of Muscat Municipality honored the sponsors and participants in the Campaign.
It is worth mentioning that the Muscat Campaign for Elimination of Aedes Aegypti Mosquito themed "Your Cooperation…Indicates Your Awareness" has carried out by the Ministry of Health in cooperation with the Muscat Municipality and a number of relevant authorities from 8 to 23 last January 2019.
