MOH Organizes NCD Initiatives Forum

The Ministry of Health, (MOH) represented by the Non-Communicable Diseases Department and in collaboration with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and Baxter Company organized today (Tuesday) Non-Communicable Diseases Initiatives Forum at Intercontinental Muscat Hotel.

The Forum held under the patronage of H.E. Dr. Ali bin Talib Al-Hinai, MOH Undersecretary for Planning Affairs and Chairperson of Multi-Sectoral National Committee of Non-communicable Diseases along with the presence of Dr. Asr Toson, UNFPA Representative of Sub-Regional Office for GCC states in Oman.

Dr. Said Al-Lamki, Director General of Primary Health Care welcomed the participants in his speech and reviewed the reality of non-communicable diseases in the Sultanate and the efforts exerted to combat them, whether by treatment or raising the awareness.

The Forum aimed to view the initiatives of the non-communicable diseases from all over the Sultanate, which played an important role in improving the services delivered for the patients.

The indicators of primary health care institutions (PHCI) have reviewed during the Forum. The Forum also discussed the challenges related to the prevention and control of non-communicable diseases.

The Forum included honoring the best initiatives at the level of health institutions in the Governorates, as well as all efforts exerted in various programs and fields such as mental health program, peritoneal dialysis, eye health, national cancer registry all non-communicable diseases departments in the Governorates along with the best non-communicable diseases clinics in the PHCI.
