Adverse Drug Reaction Highlighted in Salalah First Dermatology Forum
17/8/2019The Salalah First Dermatology Forum kicks off today (Saturday) under the auspices of H.E. Dr. Ahmed Mohammed Al Saidi, Minister of Health, at Millennium Resort, Salalah city.
The Symposium President, Dr. Faiza Al Raai, presented the welcome speech where she pointed out that rash is the most common ADR that practitioners face most of the time therefore the scientific content of the conference was prepared particularly for the general physicians along with the clinical and legislative aspects.
The forum, organized by the Oman Dermatology Society in collaboration with Al Nahdha Hospital, included a medical conference on Adverse Drug Reaction as well as a workshop on advanced filler. Consultants from Dermatology, Autoimmunity Medicine, Emergency Medicine, and Aesthetic medicine presented the working papers of the conference, in addition to the participations of specialists in pharmacovigilance and quality assurance.
The ADR Conference aimed at strengthening knowledge of all medical care personnel, introducing most common clinical forms of ADR and latest updates. In addition, it allows for the exchange of experience among expertise in the targeted fields.
In addition, the conference highlighted the policies and protocol related to ADR classification, diagnosis, and testing according to international standards. It addressed the certified mechanisms and issues related to ADR recording from specialists in pharmacovigilance and quality assurance.
Moreover, the accompanying training workshop on advanced filler aimed at introducing the uses of acknowledged injection methods to the dermatologists and surgeons. It educated participants on the safe injection in the face and hand, in addition to the problems related to the misuse of injected substance and prevention. The workshop offered a live demonstration by a certified regional trainer.
On the theme of the forum, ODS President Dr. Aysha Al Ali pointed out that at the present time, the adverse drug reaction (ADR) is one of the vital subject opened for debate and receives abroad attention worldwide. It concerns most professions in the health sector including health workers at day clinics, health centers, specialized clinics, and hospitals. She emphasized that the theme is linked directly with the safety and health of patient in addition to the quality of services provided by the health institutions.
In a related matter, the ODS Board of Directors announced the intention to convene an international Dermatology Conference on a biennial basis in Salalah, alternating with the Muscat International Dermatology Conference.
Since its establishment in 2006, the Oman Dermatology Society seeks to promote learning and training in branches of dermatology and Aesthetic medicine through organizing number of national and international conferences, general and specialized workshops on this significant medical specialty.
Notably, an adverse drug reaction (ADR) may occur following a single dose or prolonged administration of a drug, which affect certain parts of the body that not intended for the treatment.
