Health Awareness Marathon in GCC Days, Batinah North & South27/10/2019
The Secretary General of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf (GCC) represented by the Human and Environment Affairs, in collaboration with the Gulf Health Council and the Oman Ministry of Health (MOH) organized on Monday and Thursday (21-22, October) a health awareness marathon.
The event came as part of the GCC Days hosted by the Sultanate. It has been run in both Musanah and Sohar with the aim of highlighting the importance and benefits of walking and physical activity, in addition to underlining the efforts made by the Gulf Health Council in this field.
Number of senior officials from Al Batinah North and South, Gulf Health Council and GCC Secretary General took part in the marathon, in addition to the participation of various authorities in the both Governorates as well sport clubs and teams, school and colleges students, along with health sector workers and people of special needs both citizens and residents of all ages.
Holding the marathon in two different wilayas in the Sultanate ensured the participation of the largest number of people. Moreover, the event coincided with the World Arthritis Day, which is marked on October of every year.
Within the marathon, a healthy educational exhibition was held that included different health services specialties along with tourist information about the Sultanate.
