The Royal Hospital (RH) represented by the Internal medicine organized on Thursday the Annual Research Day. The opening was held under the auspices of H.E. Dr. Darweesh Al Maharbi, Ministry of Health’s Undersecretary for Administrative and Financial Affairs, and with the presence of H.E. Dr. Hilal Al Sabti, Executive President of Oman Medical Specialty Board (OMSB).
The day joined the participation of 100 physicians from public hospitals, Sultan Qaboos University hospital, as well Armed Forces Hospital (AFH).
The Internal Medicine Annual Research Day aimed at reviewing the latest medical and therapeutic updates in this field, underlining stare-of-art- techniques, and discussing preliminary findings of genetics study in the Sultanate.
The event included two session that underlined spectrum of topics related to internal medicine. The first session addressed observational study on Metformin Versus Insulin in Management of Gestational Diabetes in the Sultanate, The relationship between ESR and BMI, Epidemiology of Chronic Hepatitis C Infections at a Tertiary Care Centre in Oman, in addition to Etiologies of Unilateral Pleural effusion at Tertiary Hospital, and pattern of Manifestation of HIV Patients on First Presentation.
The second session reviewed of Infective Endocarditis over the past 10 years at the RH, and presented Assessment of Pulmonary Functions in Transfusion Dependent Thalassemia Patients in Tertiary Care Centre Oman. Furthermore, studies on Incidence of Acinetobacter and the Prevalence and risk factors of Hepatic Fibrosis in Inactive Carrier of Hepatitis B Infection outlined.
At the end, the patron of the event distributed certificates for the best presentations.
