Health Minister Receives Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh President

H.E. Dr. Ahmed Mohammed Al Saidi, Minister of Health received today (Thursday) Prof. Michael Griffin, President of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (RCSEd), currently visiting the Sultanate.

The meeting discussed matters related to the training and development of general surgeons in the Sultanate.

 RCSEd President admired the level of advancement that the Sultanate reached in the field of Microsurgical specialties and surgical training. The Professor along with his colleague Dr. Judy Evans, College's Honorary Secretary were among the lecturers at the Surgical Safety Symposium, held recently at the Royal Hospital.  

Prof. Michael Griffin thanked His Excellency the Health Minister for his personal support as well the ministry’s in facilitating the specialized surgeries examinations that are held every year.

Meanwhile, the health minister expressed his gratitude for the College’s efforts made to develop the surgical specialties globally, selecting the Sultanate as an international center for its fellowship examinations.H.E. Dr. Al Saidi whished his guest a pleasant stay in the Sultanate. It is worth to mention that the Fellowship examinations of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh is conducted in November of every year. This year, more than 80 surgeons from the sultanate and the neighboring countries applied for the exam.
