The Directorate General for Health Services at Muscat Governorate organized today (Tuesday) a workshop on new Novel Coronavirus update at the DGHS headquarter in Darsait.

More than (100) medical and allied medical categories from MOH health institutions in Muscat, as well from Armed Forces Hospital, Royal Oman Police hospital, Public Authority For Civil Defence And Ambulance, and Diwan of Royal Court Medical Services, in addition to representatives from the private sector took part in the workshop.

Acting Director General of Muscat-DGHS Sheikha Al Ganaini affirmed the importance of the workshop, which is held within the preparedness in handling the new Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCoV) outbreak in China.  

Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCoV) symptoms, diagnosis, and prevention methods were stressed at the workshop. Moreover, several topics were discussed related to the disease’s epidemiological situation globally, National preparedness and response plans at the various levels of care in health institutions and schools, as well the preparedness at points of entry and Epidemiological surveillance mechanism. The workshop further trained Muscat International Airport staff on managing travelers coming from countries with registered Novel Coronavirus cases or travelers with similar symptoms.
