H.E. Dr. Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Saidi, Minister of Health and President of the Supreme Council of the Arab Board of Health Specializations (ABHS) chaired on Saturday the meeting of the ABHS Executive Office hosted by the Sultanate at the Kempinski Hotel Muscat.
Professor Omar bin Awadh bin Salim Al-Rawas, ABHS Secretary-General along with the members of the Executive Office have participated in the meeting.
The meeting ratified the minute, recommendations and decisions that have been made in the previous meeting, as well as reviewed the annual report of the Secretary-General and the academic report of the activities of the scientific boards during 2019. In addition, the meeting highlighted a number of related issues including the draft budget of year 2020, recommendations of the Joint Consultative Scientific Council, the proposal of the Board's Workplan 2020 and the directives of the five-year plan 2021-2025.
Professor Al-Rawas reviewed the report of the Secretariat, which included the activities of the Secretariat during 2019, the 2020 operational plan, the developmental programs, which had implemented in various fields in order to keep pace with the global development.
The Secretary-General pointed out that this meeting reviews the Board developments, achievements and the challenges facing it, as well as the developmental plans for the next five-year.
It is worth mentioning that H.E. Dr. Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Saidi, Minister of Health has been elected as the President of the ABHS Supreme Council during the Supreme Council meeting, which took place last September at the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States headquarters in Egypt. Furthermore, professor Omar bin Awadh bin Salim Al-Rawas has been elected as the ABHS Secretary-General last May.
ABHS seeks to work toward the improvement of the health services in the Arab World, set comprehensive and uniform standards for the establishment of postgraduate physician training centers in the various medical specialties and establish a basis for the uniform assessment of training programs and the scientific, technical, and practical proficiency of the physician trainees.
H.E. Dr. Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Saidi, Minister of Health will preside over tomorrow morning the ABHS Supreme Council meeting.
