The Ministry of Health confirmed that the youngest patient infected with COVID-19 in the Sultanate, a one-and-half-year old baby, has recovered and discharged from Royal Hospital.

The infant patient, who contracted the disease from one of his parents diagnosed with COVID-19, was admitted to hospital’s Pediatric Ward suffering from rapid breathing and mild cough. He was under a two-day observation for investigation, scan, and administering the required medical care.

The baby is now in a good health condition, discharged from hospital being stable, and currently among the love of his family.

MOH emphasized that maximum caution must be exercised so not to compromise the health of children and elderly as possible to the risk of the disease.

MOH calls upon all to adhere to the isolation procedures by staying in an isolated room attached to toilet, and serving the isolated person from outside the room as instructed. The Ministry also advises all citizens and residents to keep on washing hands with water and soap as well as avoiding touching the face, nose, mouth, and eyes and following the healthy habits when coughing and sneezing.

The Ministry also urges everyone to adhere strictly to social distancing instructions issued by the Supreme Committee and the MOH, as well as staying at home and not going out unless necessary.

With our commitment to health isolation and social and physical distancing, we will prevent ourselves, our families, and our community from the spread of Coronavirus.
