GCC-DR Meets in Oman

8/3/2023

Within the framework of joint cooperation between the Gulf Cooperation Council Countries in Registering Pharmaceutical Companies and their products, the Gulf Central Committee for Drug Registration (GCC-DR) met at Mysk Al Mouj Hotel.

The three-day meeting is hosted by the Sultanate of Oman, represented by the Directorate General of Pharmaceutical Affairs and Drug Control of the Ministry of Health.

The Committee is concerned with registering pharmaceutical companies and their products at the central level and unifying the systems and procedures for registering medical companies and their products in the GCC countries according to international standards. In addition, the Committee also standardizes the pricing of medicines marketed in the GCC countries. It activates the post-marketing follow-up program for medical products related to quality and side effects of products to ensure the availability of quality, safe and affordable medicines in the gulf market.

It is worth mentioning that the Gulf Central Committee for Drug Registration convenes its meetings periodically every three months. The Sultanate of Oman presides over the sessions for the current year.
