The Ministry of Health (MOH), represented by the Directorate General of Diseases Surveillance & Control (DGDCS), in cooperation with the Centers for Diseases Control & Prevention, organized today (Thursday) a workshop on event-based monitoring.
The workshop, held in the presence of Dr. Amal Saif al-Maani, DGDSC Director General, with representatives from other related government authorities, discussed the event-based monitoring strategy.
The strategy is one of the state-of-the-art epidemiological surveillance strategies. Surveillance helps to create an early warning system for public health events.
Participants in the workshop included the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries & Water Resources, Environment Authority, and Food Safety & Quality Center.
The World Health Organization introduces early warning systems for disease outbreaks as surveillance systems that collect information on a selected list of epidemic-prone diseases to trigger prompt public health interventions.
