To actively engage women in promoting and strengthening sustainable healthcare across the community, H.E. Dr. Hilal Ali Al Sabti, Minister of Health met today (Sunday) with a number of Omani Women's Association Members in Masirah as well as representatives of other public sectors, with the attendance of H.E. Dr. Fatima Mohammed Al Ajmi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health for Administrative, Financial, and Planning Affairs at the Association headquarter.

His Excellency the Health Minister highlighted the crucial role of civil society institutions, primarily the Omani Women's Associations, stressing their contribution to promoting community awareness and health culture towards maintaining the health and well-being of families.

Al Sabti meanwhile addressed Masirah Women's Association to contribute to raising the level of awareness on the most critical risks to woman's health, especially in light of the received reports and statistics that require working together out of the social and national responsibility.

Being an institution involves in the provision of health care and services for women and child health, the Minister of Health, therefore, advocated that female members be community ambassadors for healthcare to instill the concept of self-care by raising women understanding of the significance of early pregnancy screening and follow-ups in order to receive all means of care, protection, and treatment.

H.E. Dr. Al Sabti affirmed the joint responsibility of official and civil institutions stating: “As government institutions and civil community institutions represented in the Omani Women's Association, we need to work together on informing the women fully about the necessity of medical checkups and reproductive safety to maintain health security.

The minister of health pointed out that the harmony between the government and civil community institutions generates quality of life, thus building a stable, balanced, and healthy homeland.

Furthermore, His Excellency touched upon one of the key challenges indicated by health reports in Masirah that result in health risks on both mother and fetus as a large group of pregnant women postpones registration for pregnancy routine follow-up.
